Razzamataz Franchise Opportunity

Louise Allen, age 25, lives just outside Cambridge. Louise has been the Principal of Razzamataz Cambridge since 2010.

Q. How did you hear about Razzamataz?

Louise: Initially I watched them on Dragons’ Den and then my dad, who is an accountant, read about them in the press. When he told me about it, we both thought it sounded like an exciting opportunity.

Q. What’s your background?

Louise: Dancer, choreographer and dance teacher.

Q. Have you always wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Louise: Yes I have. Maybe because my dad runs his own business and I’ve seen how it has grown. He is a real inspiration to me and has given me the courage to take on a business at a young age.

Q. How did you finance your business?

Louise: Savings and loan.

Q. What are the best things about being a Razzamataz Principal?

Louise: Seeing how much the students have accomplished, especially the ones that have been with you a while. Positive feedback from parents about how they have grown in confidence is also a wonderful part of my job.

Q. What are the most difficult aspects of running your own business?

Louise: You always need to plan for the future and keep ahead of the game. I often plan up to a year in advance, which takes some time to get used to.

Q. What advice can you offer other people going into business?

Louise: Research the area that you are looking to target and take a close look at the competition to see how long they have been established and how you can get your foot in the door and promote our brand. Think about the contacts you already have and how you can use them to your best advantage.

Q. What’s a typical day like?

Louise: On the whole I like to delegate days to specific tasks but if there is something big coming up I will focus my energy there.
