Dominic Stone, a PGCE qualified primary school teacher, wanted greater freedom for his future and to build a business he could develop gradually and incrementally through his own efforts and decisions.
Dominic knew he needed some guidance and support to gain business acumen but wanted a structure that had a proven track record with a good chance of success. The business is set to be family run with Dominic’s father investing in the business at the outset and currently owns shares, however Dominic is hoping he will be able to recoup this in the next few years. Mrs Stone also helps out with her role increasing as her own commitments in her own business change and Dominic’s grow. “There is room for flexibility here. Her strengths should aid my weaker areas and vice versa.”
Dominic always requests feedback from his customers which is almost always positive and sometime revelatory. The support his business provides can change attitudes to challenges, subjects and education in general which potentially changes the lives of both the learner and their families for the better. “A highlight was my first customer, the first really positive response from the effect of the tuition. I would like my business to become the number one tuition business in Lancashire for any age and subject of learner and their family.”
