Drivin Miss Daisy Franchise

Cammie Phillips, owner of Driving Miss Daisy Andover, answers some questions about her experience so far with Driving Miss Daisy.

1: What attracted you to Driving Miss Daisy?

The opportunity to help my local community and bring smiles to people’s faces. My mum is in her seventies and I help her get around and take her out to lunch. I could see how much this means to her. So I wanted others, who don’t have close family, to have that same feeling of having someone that cares about them. Similarly, I wanted to help people to keep their independence if they don’t want to ask family. I also love driving, so seemed the perfect job for me.

2: What’s your experience been like so far?

I didn’t really realise that there are many people are out there who don’t have family to help and that they can spend days and even weeks without seeing anyone. The experience has been uplifting and I just hope that when I need someone that I can not only call on family but also my local Driving Miss Daisy service to help me.

3: What’s worked well in promoting Driving Miss Daisy in your area?

The thing that has worked the best is posting leaflets. However, I will confess that I don’t do enough, as its hard once you are out driving all day. In addition to leaflets, my local Andover gazette, has been a great source of clients. The Andover Gazette is a small glossy magazine that most people pick up for free in the supermarket or local shops, everyone keeps these as they are so useful due to many local businesses advertising in it. And of course word of mouth is a great promotor.

4: What would you say to someone thinking about opening a Driving Miss Daisy franchise?

I would say that if you enjoy helping your local community, driving and meeting new people this is a great way to earn a living. It is rewarding and gives great self-satisfaction as well as helping those less fortunate.
