I wanted to change my working life and decided that working for myself would not only give me flexibility but a completely new challenge.
Welcome to the team! Tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Cumbria on the Solway Firth with my partner Steve. My background is in Human Resources and Learning & Development. I have also worked for local authorities and, more recently, the NHS. I particularly enjoy music and I currently sing with the Carlisle Cathedral Choir.
Why did you decide to go into business?
I wanted to change my working life and decided that working for myself would not only give me flexibility but a completely new challenge.
What does becoming a SmartPA Partner mean to you?
This is my first venture into running a business and to know that the SmartPA team is there, providing me with business support and knowledge, is really helping to build my confidence.
As a SmartPA Partner, what are you most looking forward to?
Starting work! I am also looking forward to building working relationships and skills on my new business journey.
Who is your hero?
There have been many women over the years who have inspired me, including my manager when I started as a trainer, my first singing teacher and, not least, my mum.
What advice would you give you other women considering going into business?
It feels like such a big step but if you know what you want to do and research your options well – take the plunge!
