Based at Highland House on The Broadway, the new London live-in care and visiting care provider will bring 15 jobs to the local economy initially, with more on the horizon as the company expands.

Good Oaks Home Care is an award-winning care provider, that helps people live longer in their own homes. A pioneering driver for change in the care sector – Good Oaks Home Care is believed to be the first completely carbon neutral care franchise. The company values of PRIDE are: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Empathy. Good Oaks also believes in championing the caring team that work with them, both via excellent rates of pay and career progression.

Arpan Patel, director of the Good Oaks office providing home care in Wimbledon and Kingston has previously worked in finance and home renovation. After graduating from Imperial College London with a degree in Maths, Arpan moved into finance and spent 10 years in the industry, but he knew he always wanted to create a business for himself. So, in 2014 he left the financial world and went into property development, taking on small scale projects, taking the time to get to know the clients and creating their dream houses. But there was always an idea there to help the community further, he said: “I thought, if I’m getting this much satisfaction from creating and selling a house, how would I feel about providing a service to someone who could desperately need it? It would be so much better – it’s knowing you have changed someone’s life.”

His motivation also came from thinking about his family and the services they might need in the future. He said: “From a personal point of view, both my parents are in their 80s and my brother has Down Syndrome. Although he gets good care, I’m aware that there is a lot of help out there that could be improved. My family live in different areas but it’s more the concept of Good Oaks Home Care – being able to help people and the community where I live. I live in Wimbledon myself.”

The team is currently hiring carers and recently welcomed Care Manager Sujina Hannan to the team. Arpan added: “I am really excited to be bringing Good Oaks care to the area – it’s knowing that you have changed someone’s life. It takes a very special person to be a carer. We are after carers with passion and experience, we want the people we work with to do it because they love it.”
