Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has announced, Ratna Sivaganesh, franchisee for Aylesbury and Amersham has greeted early expansion success by taking over the additional affluent territory areas of Luton and St Albans.
Ratna Sivaganesh who joined Card Connection earlier this year, and runs the franchise with his wife, has effectively doubled the size of his franchise territory, now supplying Card Connection’s extensive range of quality greeting cards and gifts to more than 300 retailers in the region.
“When I first bought the franchise, it was always my intention to buy an additional territory,” explains Ratna Sivaganesh. “The new area is highly populated with a mix of urban and more rural retail outlets and offers many potential opportunities for future expansion. I will spend time consolidating the region over the next six months then aim to grow the franchise to supply a total of 400 stores within 18 months.”
Card Connection’s team of franchisees hand pick and deliver greeting cards from a range of innovative designs including: Santé, humour, handmade and special occasions cards. Using a proven system, franchisees place greeting card ranges in retail outlets on a ‘consignment’ basis. The award winning merchandising service provided to retailers by local franchisees is second to none and has established the company’s excellent reputation especially within the convenience sector.
Ex Spar supermarket manager, Ratna Sivaganesh, has employed a new full-time merchandiser to manage Luton and St Albans, taking his team up to four. He aims to grow the team with a further merchandiser in the future as the franchise expands.
Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of the largest publicly owned greeting card publisher in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees who are keen to run an expanding business. Suitable candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, and depending on the size of the territory, they could be expected to employ a small team, operate a small warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.
Since the franchise network in the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £20k (+stock) with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.
