Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor,Card Connection has today announced that its staff have been raising cash for charity and plan to raise further funds throughout the year. The company voted on four charities to support and has organised a calendar of events aimed at having fun and generating cash at the same time.
Jackie Wheeler, technology & business intelligence manager at Card Connection and coordinator of the initiative comments: “We kicked off with around 20 of our head-office staff dressing as their favourite childhood hero to help raise £120 for Children in Need. Our heroes included Dangermouse, Robin Hood, Scott & Charlene, a Squaddie, a Fireman, a Pink Lady, a Builder and Nancy Drew! We also sold cakes, got in touch with our creative side by taking part in “Design Your Own Card” and had a Wii Bowling competition. This month we have supported the British Heart Foundation’s ‘wear it red’ campaign and plan a Stand Up To Cancer event in May, plus a McMillan coffee morning later this year.”
“As a company, our tag line is: ‘we make a difference’. Although this applies to the world of business, over the years we have also been pleased to support various charities,” confirms Michael Johnson, managing director of Card Connection. “Now, coordinating the effort so that everyone can be involved is generating so much enthusiasm! It’s a great way of our Card Connection ‘family’ to have fun and give something back at the same time.”
