Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection and UKG, have been confirmed as the shared supplier for greetings cards for Central Convenience Stores, one of the UK’s fastest growing convenience store chains. Card Connection’s franchisees will now supply 54 company-owned stores with both everyday and seasonal cards.
“Central Convenience Stores is an exciting new national account for Card Connection,” confirms Michael Johnson, managing director, Card Connection. “The retailer’s open seven days a week, with extended hours, offering the best national brands, alongside locally sourced products. The company is growing rapidly and opened five new outlets in June alone!
“UK Greetings – which owns Card Connection – was the previous sole supplier, however, our model, where franchisees merchandise and tailor displays relevant to the location and demographic of particular stores, was a better fit for most stores,” explains Johnson. “The individual and detailed attention our franchisees provide will now contribute to maximising sales of greetings cards and accessories for Central Convenience Stores.
“Our franchisees will now keep greetings card displays up to date and always looking fresh including seasonal product,” continues Johnson. “Card Connection’s extensive range ensures there is a design for every occasion and cards are supplied on a full Sale or Return basis. This means stock and display equipment is on free loan to the retailer who only pays for what is sold. This award winning business model saw Card Connection nominated as a finalist for BFA’s Franchisor of the Year in 2015.”
Central Convenience Stores joins more than 100 other national retail accounts supplied by Card Connection’s franchise network in the UK.
Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of American Greetings Inc., one of the largest greeting card publishers in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees that are keen to run an expanding business. Since the franchise network in the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £7k + Stock + Card Connection fee with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.
