Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has today announced its Franchisee of the Year for 2011, Gabriel McGeown, has expanded his franchise territory to include County Antrim, Belfast and North Down.
Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has today announced its Franchisee of the Year for 2011, Gabriel McGeown, has expanded his franchise territory to include County Antrim, Belfast and North Down. McGeown who joined Card Connection in 2008, now supplies Card Connection’s extensive range of more than 1,500 quality greeting cards and gifts to more than 200 retail stores in Northern Ireland.
McGeown who was recognised for his ‘outstanding commitment’ as a Card Connection franchisee at the company’s annual conference last year, has also expanded his team and now works alongside one part-time and three full-time staff members. “I have recently invested in another vehicle too,” explains Gabriel McGeown, Card Connection franchisee. “This means I now have three vans on the road and we will hope to increase the numbers of retailers we supply dramatically in the next 12 months, aiming to add a further 50 key accounts to our customer base.
“The general market conditions are pretty tough for everyone right now, even in Northern Ireland,” continues McGeown. “However, we are still focused on expansion and moving our business forward to take advantage of the exciting opportunities available.”

Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, the largest publicly owned greeting card publisher in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees who are keen to run an expanding business. Successful candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, they would be expected to employ a small team, operate a warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.
Because the franchise networks in the UK and Ireland are complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £20,000 (+ stock) with earnings potential in excess of £50K per annum.
