Home care provider Caremark (East Riding) held a fun and successful fund raising event for the Admiral Nurses, on the 28th March from 10am—2pm at their offices in Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire, serving tea and cakes in return for a small donation towards this worthy charity.
The
event was held to raise awareness and resources for Admiral Nurses who work directly with family carers caring for someone with dementia, providing a unique lifeline to thousands of people.
Through helping family carers understand and deal with their feelings, they provide practical advice and information on dementia, its impact and how to cope, as well as referrals to other appropriate services; liaison with other professionals providing holistic support is also offered when it’s needed.
There are currently 102 Admiral Nurses in the country and through this fund raising event, Caremark (East Riding) hoped to expand the availability of Admiral Nursing DIRECT with all monies raised going towards making Admiral Nurses available to more people who need them. With the increase in the number of people living with dementia, the demand for the care and skill of Admiral Nurses is set to rise.
Currently the Hull & East Riding Admiral Nurses provide a service to family carers aged over eighteen who care for somebody with dementia.
Commenting on the day, Director Karen Precious said, “We had a fantastic day! The customers and staff that came along agreed that it was a great opportunity for us all to meet each other in an informal setting and have a nice chat! The staff made a great effort with their cake making and the customers enjoyed eating them! Us too!”
The day was well attended and £200 was raised for the Admiral Nurses.
All the beautiful cakes were made by the staff of Caremark (East Riding), with the feature cake made by Suzie, a Field Care Supervisor in their care team. The cake portrays joint owners and Directors of Caremark (East Riding) Graham & Karen Precious, with Danny their Care Manager!
Caremark (East Riding) provide care and support services to people of all ages and abilities across the East Riding of Yorkshire. The bespoke care service enables people to remain living safely and independently at home rather than having to consider moving into residential accommodation.
