Husband and wife duo Simon and Friederike Slee, have been presented an award from Hammersmith and Fulham Mayor, Cllr Frances Stainton, recognising the success of their signage, graphics and visual communications centre.
The owners of FASTSIGNS®, in Hammersmith Road, beat off competition from hundreds of other companies throughout the borough to be named Best Hammersmith Business 2013 at the second annual Hammersmith & Fulham Brilliant Business Awards, held at Bush Hall London.
“We were absolutely thrilled to be recognised,” said Simon, “Like all small business owners, Friederike and I have been through some tough times but we had the confidence to keep going because we believe in each other, employ brilliant people and are not afraid of hard work. The fact that we have seen tremendous growth in our business is testament to the strength and loyalty of our wonderful team without whom we wouldn’t have won this award.”
Organised by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, the awards saw over 2,300 votes cast by members of the public to nominate their favourite local enterprises.
Simon continued: “We’re really grateful to all those who voted for us. We were nominated for the Best Customer Service award last year so to win this time round with Best Business means a great deal to us. Since taking on FASTSIGNS two years ago, our aim has always been to think outside the box. From working on graphics for robots in IKEA adverts to fashioning Halloween and Christmas decorations at ZSL London Zoo, we’re not your average signage company.”
The awards were sponsored by Hammersmith Kings Mall, Westfield London, Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle, Royal Bank of Scotland RBS, Stanhope, Leiths School of Food and Wine, W12 Shopping Centre, Hammersmith London and The Fulham Resident Magazine.
