Two careers in a lifetime is quite common these days but Paul McCarthy, 49, is going for a hat-trick by setting up his own promotional product, corporate gift and branded clothing business, Recognition Express Warwick, following a 17 year career with the Post Office and a 10 year career as a Radio Dispatcher with West Midlands police force.
Paul, who began trading in January this year, said: “I’ve been lucky to have had two rewarding careers already and they taught me so much, but it’s always been my dream to be my own boss. I’m so looking forward to this new challenge and, although it might sound a bit corny, I’m excited about helping local businesses market themselves.”
Paul’s business supplies a huge range of cost-effective and competitively priced products from pens and badges to luxury items, award plaques and innovative branded products, plus all types of printed clothing and uniforms.
Paul adds: “Even in a recession businesses need to promote themselves and keep their name out there. I’ve got something for all budgets.”
During his career with the Post Office Paul started off as a counter clerk and then moved on to a variety of roles in the regional office including Audit Officer and providing support to the country’s network of post offices. His role at the police involved logging 999 calls and dealing with the logistics for the emergency response such as sending in officers, coordinating specialist units and controlling situations until the arrival of officers at the scene.
Paul’s territory includes Rugby, Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth and he’s already started doing his ‘walkabout’ introducing himself to businesses in the area.
