Homecare franchisor contributes to launch of Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness

As a homecare franchise whose model is underpinned by the importance of companionship, Home Instead Senior Care is proud to attend the launch of The Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness today at the House of Commons and to support its campaign call out #happytochat.

Home Instead Senior Care Jo Cox on Loneliness

Home Instead Senior Care whole-heartedly believes in the difference companionship makes to seniors’ lives and, through its dedicated CAREGivers, helps stave off loneliness amongst the elderly across the UK.

Its CAREGivers deliver 5 million hours of care and companionship each year to over 8,000 older people. Home Instead is proud to pay tribute to the work of the late Jo Cox by sharing details of the difference it makes to people’s lives and how it does that through its bespoke relationship-led approach.

Ruth Brown, from Home Instead’s National Office, will be attending the launch at the Speaker’s House highlighting the franchisor’s work with the elderly and its mission: to change the face of ageing. Home Instead recently received the Queen’s Award for innovation in recognition of its companionship-based model.

During her time as a Member of Parliament Jo Cox was dedicated to tackling the loneliness crisis in the UK. She was determined that we could all do more and so in January 2016 she formed an independent, cross-party Commission of organisations, campaigners and individuals.

In Jo’s memory the Commission has been taken forward by Rachel Reeves MP and Seema Kennedy MP. The Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness will ask people, throughout 2017, to do something – to take action, in honour of Jo.

The Commission will be working with a range of partners including: Age UK, Carers UK, Royal Voluntary Service, The Silver Line, Independent Age, The Campaign to End Loneliness, Eden Project Communities, Action for Children, Refugee Action, The British Red Cross and Alzheimer’s Society – to shine a light on different aspects of loneliness and the positive steps we can all take to combat it.

Said Ruth: “Home Instead Senior Care is proud to pay tribute to Jo Cox by contributing to the commission. What we do truly complements its work and supports the campaign hashtag #happytochat

“Over the last 11 years, we have brought dignified care and a spirit of companionship into thousands of seniors’ lives helping them to live happily and healthily in their own homes as long as possible. We call our model relationship-led, that’s because we match our clients and CAREGivers based on interests, backgrounds and hobbies – so there is always something in common at the heart of our care visits. They last a minimum of one hour too, so there is no rushed care and always time for our clients and CAREGivers to enjoy a good conversation and each other’s company.”
