Seniors Helping Seniors comes into its own everyday – whether it’s a shared joke; cooking a dish the original way or relating to an opinion.
But when Boris dropped his bombshell just before Christmas, the way we work really came up trumps.
Families were suddenly unable to travel to collect their loved ones for Christmas – meaning elderly people found themselves alone for Christmas and at short notice, plans needed to be adjusted.
In many cases heart mending needed to happen as well as some swift food shopping.
The adjustments affected everyone this Christmas. For a care company supporting the elderly, whose carers are also seniors, we were in the unique position where the surge in demand was matched by extra availability of carers because carers were not seeing family either.
Seniors Helping Seniors carers do not often have family living at home with them and they have formed bubbles of support with our clients, and when their trips and visitors were cancelled they came forward to help.
They contacted the office and offered hours and ideas. They helped clients who needed support. Their own broken plans helped heal the hurt everyone was feeling. Clients and carers dug in to make the best of a bad time.
We always say we don’t make a drama out of a crisis. This time it was about cobbling together a Christmas and people having company.
Seniors Helping Seniors has extended its special franchise offer to prospective partners in South East and East of England to help people into a more certain future.
