It might sound like a bit of a cliché that when you work with children it can really open your eyes – but it’s true.

There’s no denying that children can be a lot of fun to work with, and our Learn Play Grow Owners are having a great time running their own businesses and working with funny, strange and just downright delightful kids that make every day different.

Here are a few reasons why we think that working with children is so rewarding:

The way a child’s mind works is just amazing

You don’t have to work with children to know the wonders of a child’s imagination.

Children have such vivid imaginations, imaginary friends and more, that it can be wonderful to get to a glimpse into their worlds; what they think and how their minds work. It can also be liberating to see the world in the way a child sees it, without the norms and responsibilities that hold adults back.

Children can be refreshingly optimistic

When you’re feeling jaded, spending time around kids can remind you that there is always an upside. It doesn’t take much to make a child’s day, whether it’s getting a certificate from their favourite Learn Play Grow character, finding an odd-shaped shell or learning to tie their shoelaces. Spending time around these positive little people can remind you that life is all about the little wins.

Mentoring kids helps you to grow, too

It’s true; you learn so much about yourself all the time you’re trying to teach others. Showing children how to do things can give you a great sense of achievement as you see them ‘getting it’ – but at the same time you learn tolerance, and other skills as you help them to grow, experience new things and learn new skills.

You can find the joy in learning again

Most children are inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge – they love learning new things. If your own experiences of learning just make you think of school classrooms and structured education, taking on a fun, interactive class like Learn Play Grow can serve as a useful reminder that learning isn’t all textbooks and times tables, it’s about exploring, discovering, asking lots of questions and a thirst for knowledge. It can be quite humbling, watching kids soaking up information and LOVING it.

Children can inspire you

Being around young minds that aren’t fully formed or jaded yet can inspire you to look at things in a different way yourself. Children have open hearts and minds and this means they are open to trying new things.

They can also be a lot more fearless than adults, wanting to try everything, talk to new people and explore places that they haven’t seen before. Everything seems to be so exciting to a small child. Their joy in little things, ability to laugh without inhibitions and not worry about things that they’ll no doubt stress about as they grow up makes them amazing to be around – even when they are being naughty!
