Caremark (Bromley), a home care provider based in Orpington, is highlighting the importance of National Down’s Syndrome Awareness week which runs from 18th March – 24th March 2014.
The aim of the week is to provide a greater understanding of Down’s Syndrome and what it means for people with the condition. Preconceived ideas and learned prejudices often result in those with Down’s Syndrome being pigeonholed rather than viewed as individuals in their own right, with their own unique personalities, gifts and abilities.
By raising public awareness, it is hoped that more people will change their perception of children and adults with Down’s Syndrome and see them as unique individuals, keen to take their place in society, rather than people with a limiting disability.
Caremark (Bromley) in their capacity as a provider of care at home, fully support this week’s awareness campaign. They provide care and support to a broad range of people, including adults with dementia, differing disabilities, learning difficulties and physical disabilities, helping them to live safe, independent lives and achieve their personal goals.
Their staff undergo specialised training to enable them to recognise and understand the needs of each client, supporting them to live independently at home and access the wider community. Compassionate, respectful care and support empowers clients to get the best out of their daily lives which Caremark (Bromley) facilitates by permanently allocating carers to their clients,
enabling clients to feel safe and comfortable with their assigned care worker.
