Luke grew up in Sutton in South London. Enjoying the outdoors from a young age he competed at a very high level in athletics. He also enjoyed playing basketball for his school and keenly rode for a local cycling club. He thoroughly enjoyed helping his parents renovate their house and redesign their garden, enjoying the transformation from neglected space to usable garden.
After leaving school in 2006 he joined the Metropolitan Police, a childhood dream. In 2011, he married fellow police officer, Juliette, with whom he now has two young children. They moved in to their first house in Haywards Heath, where Luke rediscovered his love of gardening. He found, however, that he didn’t have the work/life balance that he wanted, so started to search for a different career path.
