But with a lot of determination on his part and help from business colleagues, family and friends got back on his feet and drove the business forward.

Recognition Express Kent, a branded promotional goods and clothing specialist has just opened the doors to its new office in Medway. Over 100 customers, suppliers, friends and family attended the official opening ceremony.

Managing director of Recognition Express Nigel Toplis, the Mayor of Medway, Councillor Vaughan Hewett, and Diane Rougvie-Fevrier, the headmistress of Skinner Street Junior School jointly opened the new premises which are large enough to accommodate the needs of the growing business.

There were presentations to various members of the audience, including children’s cancer charity, Clic Sargent. Earlier this year, Steve organised a fundraising concert, ‘Shakin-them Live 2012’ which successfully raised over £5,000 for several charities, including Clic Sargent.

Steve said: “It has been a busy time for us all and the move marks the beginning of a new era. It gives us room to expand and grow as a business, and offer an even better service to our customers.

“We wanted to create the ‘wow factor’ with our new premises and continue to provide a memorable experience. The office is open plan, with all the various work stations open for customers to see.

Steve continued: “There is a large TV screen in the main reception area which displays product images and photographs from customers, but it is also linked to the computers, so it can be used to go through work in progress with customers.”

Nigel Toplis, managing director of Recognition Express, said: “Steve Randerson and his team have taken Recognition Express Kent to new heights and the move to new premises is testimony to both success to date and ambition for the future.

“The whole team has shown how hard work, attention to detail and excellent customer service can be the very cornerstone of a successful and growing business.

“I am very proud to have worked closely with Steve since he bought the business in 2008. I’m delighted by his success and am confident that the business will continue to go from strength to strength.
