When Clare and Clive Pearson found they were expecting twins ten years ago, the high powered couple decided that their demanding career-focussed lifestyles needed to change.
Clare wanted to be at home with her children and Clive was determined that his late evenings and working weekends should come to an end.
“When we spotted the Ovenclean Franchise opportunity, we knew it was for us,” Clare explains. “I would be able to handle bookings and paperwork at home, whilst Clive would be out at the ‘sharp end’ cleaning ovens and building the business.”
Clare explains that through the recession, she and Clive have found that being Ovenclean franchisees has also offered a level of security in uncertain times. “The core customer base we have built up over the years has kept our business going strongly. Many of our friends in corporate jobs have either been made redundant, or live with the threat of redundancy over their heads – we just don’t have that concern. We had a very good 2011 and 2012 is looking encouraging too.”
Over the years, the couple have grown their business substantially. With a database of several thousand regular customers, they now operate 3 vehicles and have taken on two employees. According to Clare, long term plans are to expand the business further to enable Clive to take more of management role, but in the meantime he’s thoroughly enjoying being hands-on.
“It’s been perfect for us,” she concludes. We have a stress-free, successful business, a great work/life balance and most importantly, we’ve been able to put our family at the centre of our lives – and it’s all thanks to Ovenclean!”
