Melissa’s 5* dog sitting business, Barking Mad Middlesex, offers dog holidays with excellence in customer service and a thriving, dog loving ‘Host Community’.

Lee Dancy, Managing Director and founder of Barking Mad Dog Care, the UK’s number one dog sitting service (Source: Trustpilot) explains: ‘We were thrilled to put Melissa forward for this award as she really has been an outstanding asset to the company since she burst into our business over 3 years ago. She is passionate and committed to her business and I would have no hesitation in recommending her work ethic and enthusiasm as a template for how to run a successful pet service business.”

On Tuesday 28th November, Professor Tim Morris from the Animal Health and Welfare Board for England will present the awards at a special ceremony. Melissa is very honoured to have been shortlisted and is looking forward to attending the prestigious event. She says: “I am now in my 4th Year with Barking Mad and can say that I still thoroughly enjoy the challenges and huge sense of satisfaction that each new day brings. Home boarding has become so popular now, I have no end of customers day by day looking to use our service. My business continues to grow successfully year on year and I’m very proud of my business and team’s results, made even more special by being recognised as winner of national Barking Mad Franchisee of the Year 2017 in May.”

“My local host dog loving community is everything to my business and I. It consists of different people and families that I am able to regularly bring together through events, social gatherings and one to one visits. For my retired folk, I know that my business is a lifeline for them, ensuring they have regular visits and wonderful new doggy companions. This means that they feel they can enjoy life again and it gives them a reason to get out of the house, go for dog walks and meet other like-minded people. As part of our usual standards, we always know the history of our customers’ dogs’ health and their usual vets, so that if a dog falls poorly on holiday then I pick them up and take them to their own vet who knows them well. This is part of our service and it works very well for the doggies in our care.”

I feel it is really important to give something back to my customers so I make sure my customers’ doggies receive a birthday card each year and my host families love our big Christmas party and goody bags, which often contain my handmade dog related presents!”
