Prominent business leader brings Business Doctors to Wales

Helping business owners achieve their ambitions, for themselves and their businesses, is at the heart of the hands-on assistance available from Business Doctors.

Three businessmen

Graham Morgan, former director of South Wales Chamber of Commerce, is the latest person to join Business Doctors, the national support network that helps SMEs develop and grow.

With more than 30 years’ experience of working with and alongside business owners, while being engaged within national businesses including The Royal Bank of Scotland Group and the Chamber of Commerce, Graham aims to be the first port
of call for small and medium-sized businesses
in the Cardiff City Region.

The timing is good: recent reports from the government show the number of new businesses has boomed in Wales – for example, 580 new Cardiff and 238 Caerphilly start-ups have been created since the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) scheme was introduced in April 2011 – which indicates the entrepreneurial landscape is ripe for growth.

Graham says: “I’ve spent many years working across Wales and the rest of the UK and I have great affiliation and knowledge of business, particularly in Wales. The capital in particular has a strong mix of growing business across the sectors that can play a significant part in ongoing economic development. There are plenty of exciting opportunities for SMEs and I want to help lead them in their ongoing growth and development.

Graham’s previous business support roles include being Area Business Manager for NatWest in Cardiff & the Welsh Valleys, Head of Business Development for NatWest UK and Senior Director for RBS Business Banking in Wales. He has also worked in a volunteer role as Non Executive Director for Careers Wales Mid Glamorgan and Powys, which delivered a government contract offering careers information, advice and guidance.

“My roles have for many years involved directing, motivating, coaching and supporting people, as well as building relationships to win and develop businesses,” Graham says. “I bring to Business Doctors that knowledge, experience and expertise and I’m excited about using the skills I have built to help businesses in the Cardiff region.”

When he isn’t helping business owners, Graham takes part in a number of sporting activities and with his family is a regular fundraiser for the Meningitis Now charity. Graham will be undertaking a sponsored trek through the Patagonian Andes for this charity in February. He is also the Chairman of Lisvane Panthers FC– one of the largest junior football clubs in Wales.

Rod Davies, co-founder of Business Doctors, says: “Graham’s work ethic is inspired both in and outside of business. He has been dedicated to coaching and motivating so many people throughout his career.

“It is wonderful he has now chosen to do this for SMEs in Cardiff; a city that clearly means a great deal to him. I think his undeniable passion and valuable experience will be a great help to the mix of growing small businesses across the region.”

Graham will hold a launch event on Tuesday 8 March.
